2016 so far...
My orders came in very slowly from June this year. I didn't mind the slow pace as I was getting over a low point of severe anxiety. I was thrilled to be asked to take part in a trial of fondants ( all unknown brands and to give feed back. ) I was even paid for my efforts. So I'm on my way to my confidence returning I had to that point shied away from making cupcakes, I decided then that I wasn't going to turn those orders down, after all, one cupcake could result in an order for a larger cake and it has several times. And an abundance of cupcakes , most of which I forget to take a photo of until they're packed in the box .
July was a little busier and still a slow pace but I don't mind , orders we're coming in and I had to turn down 7 orders that were required on dates I would be on holiday .
The baby shower cake was ordered with so many cupcakes and scones . I was really proud of my hand made parasol and the teddies were the first ones I'd made since attending class 3 years ago so I was happy they turned out ok.
Teachers " thank you " cupcakes were more popular than I could have imagined .
August came and started off really busy and I was still having to turn orders down because of my holiday getting closer. Still filling in gaps with lots of cupcakes
Then my holiday.
September orders were very sparse, but again I didn't mind, I needed to get over my long haul flights and jet lag. So when the orders come in I'll be ready. A returning customer for more cupcakes showing the mans love of golf and football.
A bit of a mixed bag with cricket, baptism, baby shower and even more cupcakes.
October, my busiest month so far, not as in multiple orders, but multiple tiers. Taking an order for a cat and 40 matching cupcakes I thought I would panic, I had got to make this cat one work. I did it! I actually made a cat that the customer and her daughter was thrilled to bits with. I loved his face, I loved how he turned out, ok he was meant to be a scruffy moggy and yes I think I achieved just that. The post box, 3 cakes tall so measured over a foot in height. The princess and the pea was another 2 cakes tall, The 4 tier cake and the 2 tier cake. The princess and the pea was my granddaughters birthday cake
The customer who ordered this hat cake was so happy with it she asked for the design of her engagement cake to be of similar style. My largest cake to date. A 12" chocolate , 10" Lemon , and 2 vanilla tiers and yes it was level but was sat on a wobbly turntable for the picture . We're now working on the design for the wedding cake. An 18th celebration , I loved the colours of the teal and black with a touch of silver.
Being a Pro member of the PBSS I had the opportunity to have put my name in the hat for a place in the group display at the Cake International but I wasn't confident enough to apply at the time. But, seeing all the groups display I was so inspired by the work that was done I was in awe of every single one of the cakes and promised myself and others that I would certainly be adding my name next year and keeping my fingers crossed that I will be lucky enough to get a place .
The saddest cake I have had to hand over was for a young fellas funeral . He was a member of a darts team and loved Manchester United so was asked to incorporate both.
And a few more that went out the same weekend
I have a few exciting designs coming up for this month that I am looking forward to working on and the month is still young so watch this space for more of my work.
Sunday 14th August 2016
A family member held a Macmillian coffe morning on Sunday 14th August. £230 was raised and more money to be donated by the friends and family that couldn't make it, a very good turn out and cakes donated by several people including the cupcakes i have baked. I had a lovely surprise bouquet of flowers as a thank you.
